PERTH AMBOY, N.J. – A fugitive wanted in connection with a double shooting in Perth Amboy has been arrested in Philadelphia following a coordinated operation involving the U.S. Marshals Service and multiple law enforcement agencies.
The U.S. Marshals Service announced Thursday that Jarvis McCloud, 46, was taken into custody after investigators tracked him to the 1400 block of West Allegheny Avenue in Philadelphia.
Multi-agency task force tracked suspect
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, McCloud was wanted in connection with a double shooting that occurred on June 25 in Perth Amboy.
Authorities said an arrest warrant was issued on June 28 and assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force for execution.
Deputy U.S. Marshals assigned to the Philadelphia Fugitive Task Force, officers from the New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, and U.S. Marshals deputized K-9 Emma participated in the search that led to McCloud’s arrest.
The operation concluded with McCloud being taken into custody without incident in Philadelphia.
Investigation continues
The U.S. Marshals Service did not release additional details about the June 25 shooting or identify the victims.
Authorities also have not announced what specific criminal charges McCloud faces in connection with the Perth Amboy investigation beyond confirming he was wanted on the outstanding warrant.
What happens next
McCloud is expected to face extradition proceedings before being returned to New Jersey to answer the charges filed in Middlesex County.
