EVESHAM TOWNSHIP NJ – Children playing outside in Evesham Township, located east of Philadelphia are being stopped by police and issued tickets.   The effort is a community policing initiative to bring police officers closer to the community they serve.  No, they’re not issuing the kids fines, they’re giving them tickets to redeem for a free Rita’s Water Ice.    Police are rewarding children for good bike safety, sportsmanship and other good deeds they see along their bike patrols.

“Another great day in our neighborhoods. Thank you to everyone that got out and was rewarded with your Rita’s Water Ice tickets. Do to time constraints, we were unable to make it into the Kings Grant development today, however you will be first on our list the next time we are on bike patrol,” the department said today. “Be sure to keep an eye out for our officers who will be looking for bike safety, teamwork and good deeds to reward.”
