BUFFALO, NY – When police responded to a shooting on Buffalo’s lower west side on May 24th, they discovered a 30-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in critical condition.

Today, Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 31-year-old Jose Martinez, also known as “Gordo,” of Buffalo, was arraigned for second-degree attempted murder as the suspect in that shooting.

According to Flynn, “It is alleged that on Tuesday, May 24, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the defendant intentionally shot the victim multiple times on Pennsylvania Street near Lakeview Avenue Street in the City of Buffalo. The victim, a 30-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was treated for serious physical injuries.”

On Tuesday, members of the Buffalo Police Department Gun Violence Unit executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence on Prospect Avenue. Investigators allegedly found an illegal handgun inside of the home.

Martinez is scheduled to return on Tuesday, June 21 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.
