Utica police responded to Neilson Street on Tuesday for the report of a woman creating a disturbance and beating a male walking along the street with a baseball bat while being held at gunpoint by another man.
At around 10 pm, officers made contact with a male victim who said that as he was walking on the 1500 block, a vehicle pulled up to him, and several parties whom he is familiar with exited the vehicle.
“The victim stated that a male party brandished a handgun toward him and told him not to fight back, while a female began to strike him repeatedly with a metal baseball bat,” the Utica Police Department said. “The male stated that while the female was striking him, he could feel the bones in his hand breaking, and as a result, he suffered a compound fracture where the bone was protruding through his skin.”
After being sent to a local hospital for injuries, he was taken to a Syracuse area hospital due to the severity of his injuries..
Through their investigation, police arrested Tajmere Phillips, 20, and Shamiya Phillips, 38. Both were charged with assault.
