Two 14-Year-Olds Arrested for Breaking and Entering Retail Store in East Boston

EAST BOSTON, MA – On Thursday, officers assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) arrested two 14-year-old males after they broke into a retail store on Sumner Street, stealing multiple cell phones and electronics. Officers responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering and arrived on the scene to find one of the store’s front windows shattered, with stones and broken glass on the ground.

Surveillance footage revealed that the suspects initially broke in at 4:56 AM, stealing cell phones from a wall display. They returned an hour later, breaking a glass counter display and taking more cell phones. The suspects returned a third time approximately thirty minutes later to steal additional cell phones and electronics.

Officers canvassed the area and located two suspects matching the description provided by the surveillance footage. Upon attempting to handcuff one of the juveniles, he actively resisted, but officers were eventually able to safely detain both suspects. After further investigation, officers recovered twenty-three cell phones and three electronic watches.

Both juveniles were charged with Delinquent to wit; Breaking and Entering, and Receiving Stolen Property. They are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court. The incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and the efforts of local law enforcement to curb juvenile crime.
