EPHRATA, PA – Ephrata Police Department responded to a vehicle accident on State Route 222 South, near mile marker 41.6, resulting in the death of James Stokes, 77, from Conestoga, Lancaster County. Investigation revealed that Stokes, the sole occupant of the Kia sedan, suffered a fatal cardiac event while driving, causing the vehicle to veer into the median and roll near the northbound lanes.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has determined that Stokes died of natural causes and not as a result of the crash.

Police said no other vehicles or individuals were involved in the incident.
