Forgery Suspect Caught After Passing Stolen Checks at Local Business

UTICA, NY – On July 18, Utica Police officers were notified of check theft from a resident’s mailbox.

The individual stated that the stolen checks were subsequently cashed at a local establishment.

Upon being transferred to the Criminal Investigations Division, the case led to the recovery of surveillance footage of the suspect.

With help from New York State Parole, the suspect was positively identified.

Kaseem Carr, a 30-year-old resident of Utica, was apprehended on Friday. Carr is charged with Forgery in the second degree and Identity Theft in the second degree.
