Ocean City, MD – Two individuals have been charged by the Ocean City Police Department for an armed robbery that took place on June 3 around 3:24 p.m.
Three males approached a victim on Constitutional Ave. One suspect displayed a handgun and demanded personal items, which the victim provided. Witnesses supplied a description of the getaway vehicle, leading to further investigation.
Officers used a license plate reader system to gain details about the vehicle and its route, leading them to believe it was leaving town. Information was shared with law enforcement agencies in Maryland and Delaware.
Subsequent robberies and attempted carjackings in Delaware matched Ocean City’s descriptions. Collaboration between Delaware and Ocean City officers led to further insights into the suspects.
The Ocean City Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, working with Washington Metro Police Department and Capital Police, led to the identification of the suspects in Washington D.C.
On June 7, Capital Police attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which fled and resulted in a short pursuit. The occupants, later identified as Dremale Vanterpool and Torrance Brock, were arrested.
Charges were successfully filed against both individuals:
- Dremale Khary Vanterpool, 25, Washington DC: Various charges, including armed robbery. Arrested in Washington D.C. and held without bond.
- Torrance Ronel Brock, 21, Edenton, NC: Various charges, including armed robbery. Currently incarcerated in North Carolina on unrelated charges. A warrant has been issued for Brock’s arrest.
