Queens, NY—Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced today that Christopher King, 31, of Elmont, Long Island has been arraigned on multiple charges, including second-degree murder, in the shooting death of Jevaughn Jeminson, 23, outside Pure Lounge nightclub in St. Albans.
King was arraigned in front of Supreme Court Justice Bruna DiBiase and is set to return to court on October 4. The indictment charges him with second-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and first-degree reckless endangerment. If convicted, King faces a sentence of 25 years to life.
According to the indictment, King acted with an accomplice on the night of April 8. Video surveillance showed both men entering Pure Lounge at 126-19 Merrick Boulevard. King was frisked and allowed in; his companion was initially turned away after a weapon was discovered but was later permitted entry after a second search.
Approximately ten minutes after entering the club, both men followed Jeminson, who had just exited the establishment, to the intersection of Merrick Boulevard and Selover Avenue. Surveillance footage shows King and his companion pulling guns from their clothing and firing at Jeminson, who was hit multiple times and later died from his injuries. After firing a combined total of 20 rounds, both men fled the scene in a BMW sedan.
A search warrant executed at an address linked to King led to the discovery of the BMW used in the escape. King was subsequently arrested in Georgia on August 16 and extradited to New York for prosecution. The case is being led by Assistant District Attorneys Ryan Nicolosi and Jagnoor Lali, with oversight from higher-ranking officials in the Queens District Attorney’s office.
