Missing Man Found Dead, Suspect Charged for Murder

HUNTINGTOWN, MD – On Tuesday, deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to a report of a missing person at a residence in the 2300 block of Cari Court. Joseph Anthony Shymanski, 51, of Huntingtown, was reported missing by a family member.

During the initial investigation, detectives suspected foul play and identified a suspect. An extensive search was conducted, but Mr. Shymanski has not been located.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigative Bureau (CIB) traveled to Reedsville, Pennsylvania, where they executed several search warrants.

Brandon R. Holbrook, 47, of Reedsville, PA, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and first-degree assault. He is currently in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition. The investigation has determined this to be an isolated incident, and no other suspects are being sought at this time.

The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the disappearance of Mr. Shymanski. Anyone with information relevant to this case is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigative Bureau at their designated phone number.
