New NJSP Tuckerton Station Dedicated to Late Detective

TUCKERTON, NJ – The New Jersey State Police have dedicated the new NJSP Tuckerton Station to the memory of Detective Sergeant James G. Hoopes, badge number 5712. The ceremony was attended by family members of the late detective sergeant, the Mounted Unit, the Aviation Unit, and the Pipes and Drums of the Blue and Gold.

Eleven years ago to the day, Detective Sergeant Hoopes died suddenly of a fatal heart attack while training on the Atlantic City boardwalk. Superintendent Colonel Patrick Callahan and Lt. Colonel Philip Buck led the dedication, vowing never to forget the service and sacrifice of Detective Sergeant Hoopes.

The dedication serves as a permanent tribute to Hoopes, honoring his legacy and contributions to the New Jersey State Police and the community he served.
