Brooklyn Health Aide Struck by Stray Bullet Outside Coney Island Playground

BROOKLYN, NY – A 43-year-old home health aide was struck by a stray bullet near a Coney Island playground in Brooklyn.

The incident occurred on Monday, just before noon outside an apartment complex on Neptune Avenue near West 37th Street.

The aide, an innocent bystander, was walking with her 96-year-old patient when she was hit in the right arm.

She was taken to NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn and is expected to recover.

The shooting, believed to be gang-related, involved four men who fled the scene. Law enforcement is investigating the incident as part of ongoing gang violence in the area.
