In a tragic case from Sacramento, prosecutors have decided not to charge a 10-year-old boy in the shooting death of Keith Frierson, also 10 years old. However, the father of the child who fired the gun, Arkete Davis, 53, remains in legal jeopardy.

The incident occurred on December 30 at an apartment complex in Sacramento. Frierson, known as “KJ,” was reportedly playing outside when he was shot by Davis’ son. Initially, the son faced murder charges, but the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office has now shifted the criminal responsibility solely to Davis.A statement from the DA’s office indicated that based on the known facts, Davis is the only one criminally liable for the child’s death. The decision not to charge the 10-year-old reflects a focus on the father’s role in the incident.Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene after receiving a call around 4:30 p.m. They found Frierson unresponsive in the parking lot, suffering from head and neck injuries. Despite attempts to save his life, he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
