NEW CASTLE, DE – A tragic incident occurred last night in New Castle, resulting in the death of a 56-year-old woman. The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian crash.
The accident took place on March 28, around 7:45 p.m., when two individuals attempted to cross the northbound lanes of New Castle Avenue. The incident began near the Super Fuel at 3006 New Castle Avenue, where the pedestrians, one male and one female, entered the roadway. While the male pedestrian moved towards the median, the female pedestrian was struck by a silver 2012 Nissan Altima traveling northbound in the left lane.
Emergency services transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Efforts are underway to notify her family and relatives, whose identity remains confidential at this time.
The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old man from Wilmington, Delaware, was reported uninjured in the collision. State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash, seeking to understand the events leading up to the incident.
