Two Arrested in District Heights Officer-Involved Shooting, One Suspect At Large

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department announced the arrest of two individuals following an armed robbery and a related police shooting. Edward Leroy Brown, 24, and Kanard Bishop, 26, have been charged, and authorities are pursuing 18-year-old Kahlill Boyd, who is currently detained in Washington, D.C.

The incident unfolded on March 28, when officers were monitoring a vehicle previously taken at gunpoint. The suspects, identified as wearing masks, robbed a store at gunpoint before attempting to flee, leading to a police confrontation.

Brown was shot in the lower body by an officer after brandishing a firearm during the escape attempt. He received medical attention and has been released from the hospital. Bishop was apprehended without further incident, and both suspects’ firearms were recovered.

Boyd managed to escape in the carjacked vehicle, causing a collision with a police car in the process. He was later arrested in Washington, D.C., with the collaboration of local law enforcement.

The charges against Brown and Bishop include armed robbery, assault, and firearms offenses, with both held without bond. Boyd faces similar charges, with additional counts expected as the investigation progresses.
