Annapolis, MD – Detectives arrested 47-year-old Donald Joseph Powell last Monday in connection with alleged sexual abuse of a minor, 4th-degree sex offense, and second-degree assault. Powell was accused of attempting to form inappropriate relationships with minor high-school-age girls.

Not employed by the school district, Powell posed as a softball coach at Annapolis Senior High School, leading to his detainment.

Investigators found that Powell targeted high school-age females known to him from South River Youth Athletics or his attempts to coach at Annapolis Senior High.

Child Abuse Unit detectives oversaw Powell’s arrest on Tuesday, April 26 following consultations with the Office of the State’s Attorney. Authorities fear there may be additional victims and urge the public to provide information by contacting investigators at 410-222-4733 or the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
