New Jersey Tombstone Maker Took Money from Families of the Deceased and Ran

MAYS LANDING, NJ — Jiolio “Joe” Cincotti, 71, from Mays Landing, is facing multiple counts of theft by deception, allegedly defrauding over 24 individuals. The incidents occurred between October 2020 and October 2023, involving victims who paid for headstones that were never delivered.

Cincotti, who claimed to operate Atlantic Memorials, accepted payments for these headstones intended for deceased family members but failed to fulfill any orders, accumulating an alleged total theft of around $39,000. The victims reported these incidents to the Hamilton Township Police Department from October 30, 2023, through January 30.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation and urges anyone with further information to contact their Major Crime Unit at 609-909-7666.
