GREENSBURG, PA — Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announced the conviction of 47-year-old Leonardo Ramirez of New Jersey for drug trafficking. Ramirez was found guilty of multiple drug-related charges after selling $50,000 worth of fentanyl to an undercover state trooper in New Stanton.
The operation, led by the State Police’s TACET team and County Detective Tony Marcocci, took place in a parking lot where Ramirez exchanged a backpack containing 100 bricks of fentanyl, equivalent to 5,000 stamp bags, for money. Unaware that his customer was an undercover officer, Ramirez was apprehended immediately after the transaction.
Following approximately an hour of deliberation, a jury convicted Ramirez on all counts, including delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance.
He is scheduled to be sentenced within the next 90 days.
