You Don’t Need to Be Here, Teen’s Hijab Forcibly Removed in Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY — A disturbing act of bias was reported in Manhattan’s 17th Precinct when a 17-year-old girl was assaulted in broad daylight. The incident occurred on Sunday at around 12:00 PM as she walked westbound on East 44th Street towards 2nd Avenue.

An unidentified male approached the young victim, forcefully removed her hijab, and shouted, “You don’t need to be wearing that here.” He then fled the scene on foot, heading northbound on 2nd Avenue. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain physical injuries. The suspect has not been apprehended, and police are actively investigating this hate-motivated incident.
