HACKENSACK, N.J. — Authorities have arrested a fifth suspect in connection with a June 2024 shooting in Hackensack after a year-long investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Hackensack Police Department.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 35-year-old Tahjee H. Goodwin of Newark, who now faces charges related to the June 24, 2024, incident on Newman Street. According to investigators, at approximately 6:10 p.m. that day, two vehicles approached a group and opened fire, striking a parked vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Detectives later identified the two vehicles involved—one registered to Quayyan R. Horton and another linked to an associate of Charles E. Kirkland. Investigators allege that Horton, Kirkland, Nafee A. Horton, and Hakeem J. Jones were active participants in the shooting.
Quayyan R. Horton, Charles E. Kirkland, and Nafee A. Horton were arrested on February 14 during coordinated operations in Jersey City and Newark. All three remain held at the Bergen County Jail. Hakeem J. Jones, who was already incarcerated in Essex County Jail, was formally charged on February 19.
Suspect taken into custody more than a year after shooting
Tahjee H. Goodwin was taken into custody following ongoing efforts to identify all parties involved in the coordinated shooting. The Prosecutor’s Office did not disclose the specific charges he faces but confirmed they are related to the June 2024 incident.
Authorities have not stated whether additional suspects are being sought. No weapons have been recovered in connection to the case as of Sunday.
The investigation was led by Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Chief Michael Antista of the Hackensack Police Department.
