AMHERST, NY – An Amherst man is facing up to 25 years in prison after he was arrested for killing his mother on Monday inside their home.
Om D. Samant of Amherst, 34, was arraigned yesterday morning before Amherst Town Court Justice Kara Buscaglia on one count of Murder in the Second Degree.
The Amherst Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Thistle Lea on Monday at approximately 11:33 a.m. The defendant is accused of killing his mother by beating and stabbing her inside their shared house. Police found the victim, a 58-year-old woman, deceased at the scene.
