ANNAPOLIS, MD – A local business owner unknowingly carried a winning lottery ticket worth $125,985 in his truck for nearly a week before realizing he had struck it big in the Maryland Lottery’s FAST PLAY Lucky Numbers game.
The Anne Arundel County man, who regularly buys tickets twice a week, said he didn’t check the slip until days later when he scanned it and saw the message, “Go to Lottery.”
It wasn’t until he arrived at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore that he learned he was holding a jackpot ticket.

A delayed surprise turns into a jackpot
The player told Maryland Lottery officials on November 14 that he bought the $10 ticket at Quik Mart on West Street in Annapolis and followed his usual routine of waiting a few days before checking it. “I brought it, put it in my truck and didn’t check it for a few days,” he said. “When I finally scanned it, it said, ‘Go to Lottery.’ I didn’t know what that meant.”
After confirming the win, he began calling November 14 “his lucky day.”
Plans for business and family travel
The winner said he intends to use part of the prize to support his business and the rest to travel with his family once he finds time that aligns with his children’s school schedule. “We might take a vacation,” he said, smiling.
Responsible play and retailer reward
A disciplined player, he noted that he sticks to a Monday and Friday lottery budget to maintain responsible gaming habits. Quik Mart, the store at 2042 West Street that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $1,000 bonus for its role in the sale.
The $10 FAST PLAY Lucky Numbers game launched July 7, 2025, and this marks the 25th progressive jackpot hit since its release.
