Annapolis man unknowingly carried $125K winning FAST PLAY ticket in his truck for days
ANNAPOLIS, MD — A local business owner in Annapolis spent nearly a week unknowingly driving around with a $125,985 winning FAST PLAY ticket sitting inside his truck before realizing he had hit one of the game’s progressive jackpots.
The Anne Arundel County resident bought the winning Lucky Numbers FAST PLAY ticket at Quik Mart on West Street as part of his regular routine, purchasing tickets every Monday and Friday. However, in keeping with his habit of waiting a few days before checking them, he didn’t scan the ticket until nearly a week later — and was shocked by the result.
When he scanned the ticket and saw the message instructing him to visit the Lottery, he said he initially didn’t understand what it meant. It wasn’t until later that he realized he had claimed the top prize on the $10 Lucky Numbers game, which went on sale in July.
The Maryland Lottery confirmed this marks the 25th progressive jackpot won on the FAST PLAY Lucky Numbers game. The progressive jackpot starts at $100,000 and increases with each ticket sold until it is hit. After this latest win, 15 progressive jackpots remain unclaimed, along with 25 $50,000 second-tier prizes.
The winner said he plans to use a portion of the money to reinvest in his business and hopes to plan a family vacation when school schedules allow. He emphasized that he plays responsibly by sticking to a set budget and viewing the Lottery as a form of entertainment.
Quik Mart, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
The Lucky Numbers game continues to draw attention from players across Maryland as it pays out both large and small prizes instantly, without the need for a traditional drawing.
