Armed carjacking in Southeast DC prompts search for suspects and stolen red Honda

WASHINGTON, DC – A broad daylight carjacking in Southeast Washington is under investigation after two masked suspects reportedly stole a red Honda Insight at gunpoint in the 1300 block of Jasper Place SE on Saturday afternoon.

Metropolitan Police Department units were called to the scene around 3:50 p.m. on November 1. According to preliminary information, two Black males, both approximately 5’9″ with medium builds and medium complexions, approached the victim while dressed in all black clothing and wearing ski masks. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun.

The suspects fled the area in the victim’s vehicle, described as a red 2010 Honda Insight with Virginia license plate TDF 8859. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The incident occurred in DC’s 7th Police District, which covers several Southeast neighborhoods. Police have not indicated whether the suspects were seen fleeing in a specific direction or if surveillance footage was recovered.
