Tenant struck with firearm during Glen Burnie home invasion

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A tenant was struck in the head with a firearm during a home invasion on Tuesday evening on Mountain Ridge Court, officials said, as detectives search for a young man who fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Eastern District officers responded at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after the adult male victim reported a male suspect entered his apartment armed with a firearm and demanded money. An encounter followed and the suspect struck the victim in the head with the weapon before fleeing the residence with an undisclosed sum, according to police. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Investigators say there is no indication the victim and suspect are known to one another.

Eastern District detectives described the suspect as a Black male in his teens or 20s, approximately 5’10” with a medium build, wearing black clothing. Anyone with additional information was asked to contact Eastern District detectives at 410-222-6145.

The incident is being investigated as a home invasion; charges will be determined as the probe continues. All allegations are accusations and the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
