Gunman fires shot inside auto shop before fleeing on stolen scooter in Brooklyn Park
BROOKLYN PARK, MD – A man walked into an auto parts store Wednesday afternoon, fired a bullet into the ceiling, demanded a scooter, and then rode off on it—setting off a search for an armed suspect in a startling daytime robbery.
Around 2:35 p.m., Northern District officers responded to Dorsch’s Auto Parts in the 4400 block of Ritchie Highway for a report of a commercial armed robbery. When officers arrived, employees told investigators that a man entered the store, pulled out a firearm, and discharged a single round into the ceiling.
He then demanded a scooter from staff. Complying with the suspect’s commands, workers rolled the scooter outside the business, where the man mounted it and fled northbound along Ritchie Highway.
No injuries were reported during the incident. The suspect remains at large.
The man is described as a Black male in his 30s, wearing a black hoodie, black face mask, ripped blue jeans, and red and white tennis shoes. Police have released no video or surveillance stills at this time.
