Newark, DE – A late-night meeting at a Newark motel turned into an armed robbery when two men ambushed a woman after she arranged to meet one of them online.
Troopers were called to the Motel 6 on McIntosh Plaza around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday after reports of a robbery inside the complex.
Investigators say the woman had agreed to meet a man she connected with online, but when he arrived, a second man appeared with a handgun and demanded her money and belongings.
The suspects fled eastbound on Christiana Road in a dark-colored sedan, according to Delaware State Police.
Victim unharmed in tense encounter
Authorities confirmed the woman was not injured during the incident. She immediately contacted police after the suspects drove off.
Troopers canvassed the area Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning but were unable to locate the vehicle or the suspects.
Police searching for suspects
Both men are described as Black males, though no further identifying details have been released. Detectives are continuing to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses in the area.
