Carjacking suspect on the run after early morning incident in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON, DC — A carjacking in the early hours of Sunday morning has prompted a police investigation in the unit block of Sheridan Street NE, as authorities search for a suspect who remains at large.

Metropolitan Police units responded to the reported carjacking at approximately 3:08 a.m. Sunday. The suspect was described as a Black male with a heavy build, wearing a black mask, black coat, jeans, and boots. He fled the scene before officers arrived.

The carjacking occurred within the MPD’s Fourth District (Public Service Areas 401–409). No injuries were reported in the initial incident, and police have not yet released additional details about the vehicle taken.

Law enforcement urges residents not to approach the suspect and to call 911 immediately with any relevant information.

The investigation remains ongoing.
