PHILADELPHIA, PA — In a major development, Thomas Delgado, 50, has been arrested for his involvement in the 2013 home invasion and murder of Joseph Canazaro, 48. The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest, detailing the charges including criminal homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and related offenses. Delgado is currently held without bail at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
The incident, which occurred on January 18, 2013, involved a violent break-in at Canazaro’s residence in Hilltown Township. According to authorities, Delgado and another unidentified assailant tied up Canazaro, his fiancée, and his son. Canazaro was fatally stabbed, and his fiancée was sexually assaulted before she and the son managed to escape and alert the police. The assailants reportedly ransacked the home, stealing guns, money, jewelry, and fleeing in Canazaro’s truck.
Police investigations revealed surveillance footage of the suspects transferring stolen items from the truck to a Nissan sedan at a shopping center before fleeing. Delgado was linked to the crime through DNA evidence found in a facemask left in Canazaro’s truck and from the rape kit conducted on the fiancée.
The case has been a focus of the local community, with the arrest bringing a long-awaited breakthrough in the investigation. Details regarding the second suspect in the case remain undisclosed.
