Man arrested in fatal Light Street parking lot shooting after December dispute

Baltimore, MD – A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in a Baltimore parking lot following a verbal dispute late last month.

Davahughn Johnson of Baltimore was taken into custody without incident by Warrant Apprehension Detectives on December 31 in the 500 block of Saint Paul Street. He is accused of fatally shooting 32-year-old Charles Brothers during an altercation that unfolded days earlier.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:54 a.m. on December 28, when Southern District officers were called to a parking lot in the 1000 block of Light Street after a report of an unresponsive male. Officers arrived to find Brothers suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.

Detectives later determined that the shooting followed a verbal argument between the two men. A warrant was issued for Johnson, who was later located and arrested. He has been transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility and charged with first-degree murder.

The case remains under investigation by homicide detectives.
