Baltimore, MD – A 37-year-old Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with the January shooting of a 59-year-old woman in the city’s Northeast District.
Detectives identified the suspect as Gregory Steward of Baltimore. He was taken into custody on January 22 in Anne Arundel County by Warrant Apprehension detectives, according to police.
The arrest stems from a shooting reported on January 20 at approximately 7:52 p.m. in the 5400 block of Gerland Avenue. Responding officers located a 59-year-old woman suffering from an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Investigators later developed Steward as a suspect in the case. He was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was formally charged with Attempted First Degree Murder.
Arrest made following district investigation
The case was handled by Northeast District detectives, who continued their investigation after the initial response on Gerland Avenue. Authorities did not release additional details about a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The victim’s current condition has not been updated beyond initial reports describing the injury as non-life-threatening.
