BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – One of the first two people to win a top-tier $25,000 prize on a 50-cent straight bet in the new Pick 5 game was a Baltimore man who bought a single ticket Feb. 11 at Edmondson Liquors in the city.

He bought the ticket for the drawing that same evening. When the numbers 5-3-4-8-4 came up, the player realized he had won. The 23-year-old claimed his prize on Valentine’s Day at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

Like Pick 3 and Pick 4, the new Pick 5 game has drawings twice daily. The first Pick 5 drawing was midday on Feb. 7. In its first week, Pick 5 had two top-tier $50,000 winners on a $1 straight bet and another five top-tier $25,000 winners on the 50-cent straight bet – including the Baltimore player.

His lucky retailer shares in the fun. Edmonson Liquors located at 2000 Edmondson Avenue in Baltimore earns a $250 bonus from the Lottery for its lucky sale.
