FREEHOLD – A Bradley Beach man is charged in connection with a July 31, 2018 bank robbery in Ocean Township, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Spiros Bardis, 31, of Bradley Beach, was arrested and charged Friday evening with second degree Robbery.

A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean Township police department began after officers were dispatched to the Bank of America, located at 1100 State Highway 35 on a report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that at 10:18 a.m. a male entered the bank wearing a motorcycle helmet and passed a note to one of the tellers demanding money. The teller turned over approximately $700 before the male fled the scene on a white motorcycle.

If convicted of the second degree crime of Robbery, Bardis faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in a New Jersey state prison with 85% parole ineligibility.

Bardis has been lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution since his arrest.  He is scheduled for a detention hearing at 9 a.m. on August 8, 2018 in front of Monmouth County Superior Court Judge James J. McGann.

The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Joseph Cummings.

Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of the trial rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State law.
