Bomb Threat Shuts Down Schools, Town Offices in Marlboro

MARLBORO, NJ — All schools in Marlboro Township, the board of education building, and all township offices were shut down Thursday morning following a bomb threat received via email.

Marlboro Township Police, assisted by other law enforcement agencies, conduct detailed inspections of the threatened buildings, including Marlboro Memorial Middle School and the Board of Education offices.

Police have indicated that the threat is considered to be of “low risk and low credibility.”

“The Marlboro Township Police Department is currently investigating the source of this threat and has deemed it to be of low risk and low credibility. A thorough check of both buildings is ongoing, including the use of explosive detection canines. Further updates will be provided as needed,” the department said in a statement.

The investigation includes using explosive detection canines to ensure the safety of the facilities as a precaution.

The initial response from the school district was to delay the opening of schools for two hours. However, the situation escalated, leading to the closure of all public schools in the township for the entire day. This decision was communicated to the public through the district’s X account. Township government offices are also closed as a precaution, as noted on the township’s Facebook page.
