Edgewood retail manager turns ten dollar win into hundred thousand dollar scratch off prize
Edgewood, MD – What started as a routine stop after an overnight shift quickly became a six-figure surprise when a retail manager used a small lottery win to buy a scratch-off ticket that delivered a $100,000 top prize.
The Edgewood resident had just finished working overnight when he stopped to cash in a FAST PLAY ticket worth $10. Instead of pocketing the money, he used it to purchase a $10 $100,000 Crossword scratch-off at the Amoco BP gas station located at 2201 Pulaski Highway.
After buying the ticket, the 20-year-old manager sat down for breakfast and began scratching the crossword puzzle. As he revealed more and more matching words, he suspected the ticket might be a big winner. By the time he uncovered his tenth word, the outcome was nearly clear.
While the moment carried less shock than expected, the confirmation still brought excitement when the ticket revealed a $100,000 top prize. The winner later said he plans to place the money in the bank and has no major purchases planned.
The prize was officially claimed Thursday. The Edgewood Amoco BP location will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
The $100,000 Crossword scratch-off game launched in August and began with nine top prizes of $100,000.
