Bronx man fatally shot outside Stebbins Avenue building

The Bronx added another name to its list of victims — and detectives are still searching for answers.

Bronx, NY – A 35-year-old man was shot and killed Friday afternoon outside an apartment building on Stebbins Avenue, police said. The victim, identified as Samir Palacios of Seward Avenue, was found unconscious with a gunshot wound to the head shortly after 1:15 p.m.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting the shooting in front of 1420 Stebbins Avenue in the 42nd Precinct. Emergency crews rushed Palacios to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.

The fatal shooting drew a heavy police presence to the residential block as investigators canvassed the scene and spoke with potential witnesses. Authorities confirmed no arrests have been made and the investigation remains active.

Detectives are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the attack and whether the victim was targeted.

The daylight gunfire has left the block shaken, as residents grapple with another act of violence in their neighborhood.
