NEW ROCHELLE, NY – A Brooklyn man has been arrested following a five-month investigation into a violent home invasion robbery that occurred on Kewanee Road last summer, police announced.

Detectives with the New Rochelle Police Department arrested 28-year-old Shakeem Hinds on December 22 without incident in front of his Brooklyn residence. Hinds is accused of participating in a July 22 home invasion during which multiple suspects allegedly assaulted a homeowner and stole jewelry before fleeing.

According to investigators, the victim had just returned home when several armed individuals confronted and attacked him. The suspects displayed firearms, struck the victim, and took a Rolex watch and gold necklace before escaping the scene.

Hinds has been charged under New York State Penal Law with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, and fourth-degree conspiracy. Police said the investigation remains active, and additional charges or arrests are possible.

Authorities continue to investigate a separate home invasion that took place earlier on July 12, when two armed suspects pistol-whipped a 25-year-old man and stole roughly $75,000 worth of jewelry from him at another Kewanee Road address. The victim in that case sustained nonlife-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information regarding either incident is urged to contact the New Rochelle Police Department at (914) 654-2300 or anonymously at (914) 632-COPS.
