Brooklyn man bashed in head during Jamaica Avenue dispute as attacker flees

Brooklyn, NY – A 50-year-old man was hospitalized in critical but stable condition Friday night after he was struck in the back of the head during a violent altercation on a busy stretch of Jamaica Avenue, police said.

The attack took place just before 8 p.m. in front of 256 Jamaica Avenue. Witnesses reported a verbal dispute escalating before the victim was blindsided by a blow to the head, sending him to the ground.

Emergency responders rushed the man to Brookdale Hospital, where he remained under observation late into the night.

The suspect, believed to be a 40-year-old male, fled the scene in an unknown direction and remains at large. No arrests have been made, and investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

Police have not released the identity of the victim or any possible motive behind the altercation. The investigation is ongoing.
