BROOKLYN, NY – A 25-year-old woman was hospitalized after being punched and assaulted late Sunday night near Watkins Street and Livonia Avenue, police said.
The attack happened around 11:35 p.m. as the woman was walking in the area when an unidentified man approached her.
According to investigators, the assailant struck her in the face and tried to remove her clothing before fleeing on foot.
Emergency crews took the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
The suspect remains at large, and police have released a description in hopes of identifying him.
Brooklyn Special Victims Squad leading probe
The NYPD’s Brooklyn Special Victims Squad is investigating the assault and reviewing area surveillance footage to trace the suspect’s movements after the attack.
Authorities described the man as having a dark complexion and last seen wearing a green jacket with white sleeves.
Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and gathering physical evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
