Two California residents have pleaded guilty in connection with a Point Pleasant Borough home invasion in which a gun was fired during the burglary.
Two Stockton, California, residents have admitted their roles in a home invasion burglary that occurred in Point Pleasant Borough last year, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced. Jaheim Wilson, 24, and Oleyah Brown, 22, pleaded guilty Monday to burglary charges stemming from the Aug. 7, 2025 incident on Barton Avenue.
Under a plea agreement, prosecutors will seek a seven-year New Jersey State Prison sentence for each defendant when they are sentenced on Aug. 28. The proposed sentences are subject to the requirements of the No Early Release Act.
Gun fired during occupied home burglary
According to investigators, Point Pleasant Borough police were dispatched to a residence on Barton Avenue at approximately 1:38 p.m. after receiving a report of a home invasion and a gunshot being fired.
Responding officers discovered the rear door of the home had been forced open and the residence had been burglarized. An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit and Point Pleasant Borough Police Department determined that a man and woman entered the occupied home after kicking in the rear door.
Authorities said the pair stole personal property from the residence while the homeowner was inside. Prosecutors stated that “the male then fired a single gunshot into the air, and both he and the female fled the scene.”
Wilson also pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the incident. At sentencing, the State will seek a concurrent five-year prison term with a 42-month period of parole ineligibility on that charge.
Suspects arrested in Toms River
Investigators identified Wilson and Brown as the suspects responsible for the burglary. Later that same day, detectives located the pair in Toms River and took them into custody without incident.
“On August 7, 2025, Ocean Prosecutor’s Office Detectives located Wilson and Brown in Toms River, and they were taken into custody without incident,” prosecutors said.
Both defendants were transported to the Ocean County Jail, where they have remained detained since their arrests.
Prosecutor Billhimer credited the agencies involved in the case, including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Narcotics Strike Force, Point Pleasant Borough Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
