Legislation sponsored by Ralph Caputo, Thomas Giblin, Cleopatra Tucker, Gordon Johnson and Charles Mainor to make it easier for law enforcement agencies to use outdoor video cameras to investigate crimes was released Monday by an Assembly panel.
The bill (A-3843) would allow a municipality to enact an ordinance establishing a private outdoor video surveillance camera registry, and would allow any owner of a private outdoor video surveillance camera to voluntarily register the camera with the municipal police department or force.
