Shoplifter swipes merchandise from Dollar General in Oswegatchie as troopers seek public’s help

OSWEGATCHIE, NY — A suspected shoplifter walked out of a Dollar General on State Highway 68 with stolen merchandise in broad daylight, and now New York State Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the individual captured on surveillance video.

The incident happened around 4:07 p.m. on September 23, when the individual entered the store, took unspecified items, and exited past all points of sale without attempting to pay, troopers said.

Troopers from the Ogdensburg barracks responded to the larceny call shortly after the incident was reported. They released a photo of the suspect taken from store surveillance footage in an effort to generate leads.
