Saint Clair Township, PA — A 30-year-old Seward man faces a slate of charges after Pennsylvania State Police say he broke into multiple Saint Clair Township businesses and a church, stealing cash, merchandise, and religious items over several weeks.
Investigators identified Tyler Custer as the suspect after sharing surveillance images with the public. Custer was charged with burglary, theft, criminal trespassing, and related offenses.
Between May 17 and June 8, police say Custer targeted Stiles Hardware, Stiles Creamery, Holy Family Church, and Saint Vincent de Paul store, making off with cash, merchandise, copper wire, and a gold chalice later melted down and sold online.
On July 2, troopers responded to a burglary at the Dollar General on Route 56 in Seward, where sliding glass doors were smashed and cigarettes stolen. Surveillance footage showed a suspect dressed similarly to the previous break-ins.
Police recovered stolen property and burglary tools at Custer’s residence and in a backpack tied to him. Authorities say Custer confessed to his role in the break-ins and remains jailed on $250,000 bail.
