Cumberland Man Charged with Controlled Substance Possession

CUMBERLAND, MD – The Cumberland Police Department has reported the arrest of Jon Christopher Vanetta Jr, age 35, of Cumberland, Maryland, on charges related to controlled substance possession and driving without a license.

The arrest occurred on Saturday, December 16, 2023, around 11 pm. Officers conducted a traffic stop on Vanetta’s vehicle near the intersection of Fourth Street and Grand Avenue. During the stop, officers noted criminal indicators from Vanetta, who was found to be driving without a valid driver’s license.

Further investigation led to a search, resulting in the discovery of paraphernalia and a controlled dangerous substance. Vanetta was issued citations for the offense and subsequently released, pending his trial at the District Court.

The charges include Possession, not Cannabis, and Driving Without a License.
