WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man was arrested Friday evening following a reported robbery and assault in Southwest D.C. that ended with the suspect spitting on an officer as he tried to flee an apartment building.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of N Street, Southwest, where a suspect allegedly assaulted a victim and stole property before running into a nearby apartment.
Officers from the First District responded to the area and began canvassing the building. Soon after, they spotted a man matching the description of the suspect attempting to leave the premises.
When approached, the individual reportedly became combative and spat on one of the officers. He was subdued and taken into custody without further resistance.
Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Darius Dunn of Southwest D.C. He has been charged with Robbery Snatch and Assault on a Police Officer (Simple Assault).
Officers intervene quickly following robbery call
The quick arrest followed a direct report from the scene and immediate action by responding officers. The victim was not identified, and police did not release additional details about the stolen property.
The suspect’s attempt to evade officers through the apartment building was cut short by the officers’ rapid response and description-based search.
No serious injuries were reported during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
