Day care worker charged after infant’s arm broken in Wisconsin incident

Fond du Lac, WI – A day care worker has been charged with child abuse after an incident involving a three-month-old infant. Ashley Marie Karschnick, 32, faces accusations of recklessly causing harm.

The event took place at Lily Pad Day Care on Thursday. Court documents reveal that the infant arrived at a children’s hospital with a fractured arm.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows Karschnick’s escalating frustration with the child as the day progressed. Around 12:30 p.m., she allegedly picked the infant up and forcefully slammed her into the crib, causing the side of the crib to rock.

Approximately ten minutes later, Karschnick attempted to swaddle the infant to calm her down. Reports indicate that the child continued to cry loudly and gasped for air.

When questioned, Karschnick denied the charges, claiming the crib moved due to her bumping into it. Detectives asked her about the infant’s loud screams.

Karschnick is currently out on a $2,500 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
