DAYTON, OH- Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area of Lawncrest Ave and W. Third St. following a report of shots fired at around 2:50 p.m.
While en route, deputies found a man at W. Third St. and State Route 35 suffering from a gunshot wound to his back.
The victim was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Further investigation led deputies to confirm that the incident originated at the Olive Hills apartments on Calumet Ln. and Bronson St.
The Special Investigations Unit of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the case. Ohio State Highway Patrol had temporarily shut down US-35 at West 3rd St. around the time of the incident.
Montgomery County Dispatch confirmed the road closure, which was later lifted. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Special Investigations Unit.
