DC man arrested in months-old Elvans Road murder case
Washington, DC – A nearly eight-month-long homicide investigation led to an arrest Tuesday in the March shooting death of 25-year-old Tre’von Norman, who was gunned down on Elvans Road in Southeast.
Corey Noble, 27, of Southeast DC, was taken into custody by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force under a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. He is charged with First Degree Murder while Armed–Felony Murder in connection to the deadly shooting that unfolded on the evening of March 20.
According to police, Seventh District officers were called to the 2400 block of Elvans Road at approximately 7:02 p.m. that night for a report of gunfire. When they arrived, they found Norman unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The arrest comes after months of investigation into the circumstances surrounding Norman’s death. Details about a possible motive or what led investigators to Noble were not disclosed as of Wednesday. MPD has not confirmed whether the victim and suspect knew each other.
Noble was located by the regional fugitive task force, a multi-agency unit that specializes in tracking down high-priority suspects across the Washington metropolitan area. He remains in custody pending court proceedings.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. It is unclear if additional arrests are expected.
