Man arrested after violent Market Street robbery in Northeast DC
WASHINGTON, DC – A man with no fixed address was arrested Friday in connection with a daylight robbery that left one person injured and a cellphone shattered on a Northeast Washington sidewalk.
The incident occurred the prior Saturday, around 3:30 p.m., in the 2400 block of Market Street NE. The victim was approached from behind, physically attacked, and robbed of his cellphone. The suspect fled but discarded the phone nearby by throwing it to the ground.
The victim sought medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the attack. No weapons were reported in the incident.
After an investigation, 38-year-old Eddie Lucas was taken into custody on Friday. He is charged with robbery using force and violence.
The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed Lucas’s arrest and said the investigation remains ongoing.
