Carjacking reported in Northwest DC as suspects flee in stolen SUV
Washington, DC — A mid-afternoon carjacking in Northwest DC has sparked a police search after two suspects stole a vehicle and fled the area, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 6900 block of 6th Street NW. Responding officers were informed that two unidentified males had taken a black 2012 Toyota Highlander with a roof rack. The SUV bears Maryland license plate A319855.
Police said the suspects fled southbound on Piney Branch Street NW. No detailed clothing descriptions were provided, and no injuries have been reported.
The vehicle remained unaccounted for as of Wednesday morning, and investigators are working to locate it. Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and asking nearby residents or businesses to review any recordings that may show the suspects or the stolen vehicle.
